Vintage 60's Watercolor Blum'S Vogue Ceil Chapman Sarong Dress M/L

| Up for your consideration is an absolutely stunning vintage evening dress. First let say this, the dress carries a Blum's Vogue Chicago designer label, which is a high end designer department store. It is no fashion secret that Blum's dressed Chicago's most fashionable women for decades. For forty years, Harry Blum, owner of Blum's Vogue would travel to Paris every season to pick out the fashion for the department store. Blum would buy from designers such as, Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Mme Gres. He would also carry American designer labels such as, Norell, Trigere, Ben Zuckerman, Galanos, Werle, Ceil Chapman, etc. Basically if it were a great designer Blum's carried it. Because this dress only carries the Blum's Vogue label I am not sure who the designer is. But I will say that a very clever eye has spotted a dress very close to this one in a high end vintage clothing boutique in California with a Ceil Chapman label. So that is why I have put the Chapman style on it!
Absolutely stunning fitted criss cross draped bodice with straps over the shoulders. A sarong draping from the waist that trails to the floor like a train, the sarong is 31" wide at the end. The top of the sarong has a pleated fan shape. The skirt is slenderizing, floor length. The back drops down, leaving the back semi open. Zips down the side for closure. The fabric is a silky floral watercolor taffeta. The necklace is display only, you may purchase the parure set separately and combine shipping.
A Fashion History Tidbit: From a 1930 Blum's Vogue Promotional Brochure, "Blum’s Vogue was a fashionable women’s clothier featuring high end imported and domestic women’s fashions. This store and stores like it gave Michigan Avenue its reputation as an elegant shopping district during the age of the railroads."
