Vintage 40's Gilbert Adrian Sculptured Fitted Knight Button Suit

Breath taking vintage 40's designer Gilbert Adrian suit. Not many times can a collector add an Adrian to their vintage wardrobe, most of these are locked in fashion museums around the globe. But here at Sydney's Vintage Clothing, you have the chance to own this spectacular suit.
Soft sage green with a touch of khaki to the weave of this lightweight wool fabric. Fitted single breasted jacket, fully lined. Double layer on the notched collar that meets the lapel. Tiny slide in pockets on each side of the waist in the front of the jacket. The gold tone metal buttons are exquisite, shining knight & armor heads! Talk about high end couture! When is the last time you had buttons like that on anything in your closet?! Turn this jacket around an see the diagonal criss-cross cut in the back, dramatic! The back is just as detailing as the front. Adrian did not spare on details, He was known for designing for Hollywood's best, Jean Harlow, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Norma Shearer, Hedy Lamar, Lana Turner and Katharine Hepburn. His influence in the fashion industry is one of the strongest today among high end couture designers. Costuming for films of the 30's & 40's for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He is also known for Dorothy's red shoes! Life magazine quoted Adrian's feelings about the New Look in its April 14, 1947, issue: "American women’s clothes should be streamlined in the daytime, full of imagination at night. l do not like padded hips. To try and make women pad their hips in this day and age is a little like selling armor to a man." Adrian's sophisticated suits and extravagant ball gowns sold for between $145 and $1,200. I am also including a sketch, a Sydney original! (sorry not Adrian). I wanted you to be able to capture the detailing of this suit. Not only the cuts of the fabric but the knight and shining Armour buttons too!
Fitted straight skirt, hooks and old metal zipper for closure. This suit is a must have the avid vintage clothing collector.
Please note let's talk about condition, there are two small holes on the suit. The close up of the pictures makes them look large, but they are really tiny. One is on the sleeve
and one is on the bottom of the skirt on the hemline.

So therefore, please ask any and ALL questions before purchasing, this suit is sold as is, no returns, no refunds, ALL sales final.
