Vintage 40's American Red Cross Mainbocher Uniform Suit L

Here is a great wearable collectable. Yes it is from the 40's but it is also a larger size and can actually fit someone today! This suit is one of the first ones that was issued in 1948 and was designed by the famous design Mainbocher.
A little history tidbit: "During the war (when his invoices were stamped with the information that his designs met with the L-85 standards) he designed uniforms for the WAVES, the Women Marines, and the American Red Cross,…" From the New York Fashion by Caroline Rennolds Milbank.
Sing breasted with the ARC insignia buttons, flap over button up pockets on the lower part of the jacket. It has the A.R.C. pins on each collar. The red chevrons represent 4 years service, this uniform suit is probably a volunteers since a paid worker would have had a patch. Since this is a lightweight fabric this would have been for the spring / summer wardrobe. The epaulets on the shoulders represents, Nursing Service Committee, this information was gathered from Shirley Powers The skirt has an old metal zipper and a button at the top for closure. There is a tiny hole in the skirt, (see picture), otherwise super condition!
